Call for Artists

2013 Exhibition Season- NOW ACCEPTING PROPOSALS!

The Firehouse Art Center is now accepting proposals for the 2013 exhibit season.

We are looking for artists for a fiber show in January 2013 and then any medium for various shows through the rest of the year.

Watch here for specific calls for artists for the ‘Boulder County Fair’ and ‘Day of the Dead’ exhibits in the near future.

Artists interested in submitting proposals should submit the following to the Firehouse by June 28, 2012.

  • $30 submittal fee by check
  • 6 images or artwork representative of your style for the proposed show
  • Images may be sent on CD using jpg files only (images should be 300 dpi and no larger than 1024 in any direction)
  • Jpgs should be named with entry#ArtistName.jpg for example 1Artist.jpg
  • Accompanying documentation that lists image names, dimension and media and price
  • Artist statement
  • Artist proposal description
  • 6 copies of all documentation for jury process

Incomplete submissions will not be considered. Submissions must be made hard copy, by post.

All accepted artists are required to join the Firehouse Art Center ($45/yr) Member artists are given a page on our artist page on the website.


Criteria for Exhibitions

The following criteria are based on broad goals relating to the Firehouse Art Center mission which includes enriching the community through quality visual art exhibits. These criteria allow the artist to determine the appropriateness of the exhibit in meeting this mission. Any exhibit that the committee develops will be done so with these criteria in mind.

  • The exhibit provides a unique and diverse art experience for the community.
  • The exhibit has potential to attract a regional audience that ultimately expands the Art Center's audience base and increases awareness of the Art Center.
  • The exhibit meets expectations based both on artistic excellence and the material's relationship to the audience of Longmont and Boulder County.
  • The exhibit positively promotes area artists both professional and emerging.
  • The exhibit appropriately uses the gallery space.

Selected artists will be required to become a member of the Firehouse Art Center at the time of their exhibit.
