Outreach

In 1986, the original firehouse was renovated into an art center for art classes for disabled children. This service to the community grew over the years to include a variety of classes for children and adults, fulfilling the mission of the Old Firehouse: education through art.

An example of how the Firehouse Art Center partners with the community is our work with La Casa de la Experanza providing classes outside the school curriculum that allow students to explore creativity.

Casa de la Esperanza is a Longmont residential community dedicated to helping 36 agricultural workers and their families. In the Firehouse Art Center classroom, students learn skills that enable them to complete projects of their choosing.

Longmont Title 1 Elementary Schools

The Firehouse Art Center is currently collecting donations and sponsorships for a new program for local Title 1 schools.

Title 1 is a federal program that identifies schools whose needs are the greatest based upon the poverty rates of students enrolled. The Firehouse Art Center is hoping to add services for these schools to complement the resources they receive from Title 1.
