Arpita Choudhury is a freelance illustrator who is inspired by the natural world. She strives to show nature in all its’ diversity and brilliance. Her illustrations vary from a “portrait” of a particular species to more of a narrative. She is interested in the different strategies plants and animals use to adapt and thrive as well as their role in the ecosystem in which they inhabit. She is particularly fond of illustrating the more unusual members of the animal kingdom as well as ecological and conservation issues.

Her style varies from realism, surrealism, abstraction, and anywhere in between. The motivation behind her work is to tell a story and she uses whatever tools and techniques that are available to her in order to tell that story. Her preferred mediums are watercolor, gouache, acrylic paint, and ink.
