About the project

The whole process of creating woodcuts excites me. The physical nature of carving and treating paper with respect is a very cathartic exercise, that helps me to slow down and focus.
The ink marks made from cut edges, embossed impressions from the block and the unique nature that each print, accentuates the preciousness of the images and ideas.
I use a magnificent 18th Century Washington Press to print my images. Its a thing of beauty in itself. Using it feels like a privilege and thus it creates a feeling of importance to make images worthy of its use.
The images I produce are inspired from mythology stories, modern day objects and metaphorical thoughts. The result often leaves them open to multiple meaning, which is OK, since for me they often result in a lot of contemplative thinking beyond what the original image was intended.
