What fuels Fred’s passion is the freedom to reduce elements to their essence, revealing deeper truths about our environment and experiences. His process is an exploration of form, texture and color, and involves applying and then sanding & scraping away multiple layers of paint, revealing what lies beneath. Each composition presents a space where chaos and calm coexist in an industrial modern context.

GRACE GUTIERREZ
Grace Gutierrez’s work celebrates her mixed-raced, Chicanx and Indigenous identity. She is inspired by Mexican folk art, folklore, and literature. Constant reflection of cultural pride helps Grace build narratives that encourage empathy, equity, and pride within our communities. 

FRED DIEHL and GRACE GUTIERREZ, artists with strikingly different styles have come together to create collaborative works that bridge the gap between their unique approaches. In the series Weight of Wings, Diehl and Gutierrez explore the symbolic resonance of birds as a bridge between the human spirit and the natural world while evoking the tension and freedom of our shared experiences. Through this partnership, they challenged, inspired, and expanded each other’s perspectives, creating work that speaks to collective narratives while honoring their unique artistic identities.
