I come from a family of artists; from painters to musicians and engineers. (engineers are inventors, thus they create!) I learned dance and music as a child and tagged along with my mother to her oil painting lessons. I would sit on the ground next to her during her plein air painting sessions and made my own creations with watercolor paints.. Through observation I learned the basics of artistic composition, color, value and technique.
In the 1980’s I learned photography. To be honest, it was the instant gratification of making prints that drew me to this medium. I have owned many different cameras over the decades and I purchased my first digital camera in the early 2000’s. By then, I had moved my creativity to the digital landscape of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and was working as a freelance Graphic Artist and Web Developer.
Somehow, painting was always in the back of my mind. I would think about the texture of paint and how it would feel being applied to a surface. I would imagine color combinations and how my photos would look as paintings. After many years of contemplation, I finally found the nerve to take an oil painting lesson in 2015. I am in love with painting!
It’s now been 5 years since my painting adventure began. I experimented with oil painting, acrylic, water color, pastel, mixed media, inks….the list goes on! I am finding my style in the impressionist genre.
